As we enter this summer season, terrorism, rumor of war, wicked weather, and the human tragedy of a migration of women and children on our southern border come blaring their bad news at us. The pain is not distant as the anxiety tax has moved into our pocketbooks through spikes in food and fuel prices.
We at the same time are surrounded by a slew of distractions that place us in a few hours of cheering fervor and debate about our favorite soccer, basketball, or hockey team. However, the fun oasis will melt away into the reality of a world racked with the tremors of a sin infested world. How does a person of faith have a sense of heaven’s involvement in our daily challenges and an ambassador of hope for those in despair?
Since we are not the first folks to face such daunting situation, we need to extract the wisdom of prior generations and develop a practical game plan from their treasure chest. One story that comes to mind was that of Abraham. Abraham was asked to take a journey of faith through challenging circumstances. God made a commitment to Abraham that is unshakable. In Hebrews 6:13, we read this comforting promise
For when God made a promise to Abraham, since He swear by no greater, He swore by Himself saying I will surely bless you and will surely multiply you.”
When we examine God’s follow through on this commitment, we are in awe!
His commitment to you and I are no less than His promise to saints of old.
So in the shifting sands of our situation, we who have been grafted into the genealogy of Abraham can lay ownership to God’s promises to give us a solid path in our faith journey.
Look to God’s WORD to bolster our faith during days like these.
