Introduction to Lesson 6
Woody Allen once said, “I don’t want to achieve immortality through my work. I want to achieve it through not dying.” Allen speaks for billions of people. Modern science has increased life expectancy in different parts of the world, but the best that science, creams and pills can do is delay the inevitable. All human beings are subject to death. Death occurs as a result of sin. All human beings are mortal. Being mortal means that we are subject to death. If we do not die as a result of an accident or a disease, our bodies will simply wear out, reaching the place where they can no longer sustain life. While modern science can extend life by a few years, it cannot prevent death.
