To whet your appetite for the upcoming event on Wednesday, here’s a little story featuring two little girls and a lot of smoothies!
Eight-year old granddaughter, Kiera and neighbor Partha have become host and hostess of family events. Last Christmas, with pen, paper and an authentic attitude they went to each guest for drink orders: Water? Grape Juice? Banana/Strawberry Smoothie? The requests were unanimous –a Smoothie.
Orders in hand they rushed to the kitchen, pulled out the blender, got the Trader Joe’s strawberries from the freezer, soy milk from the frig and bananas from their bowl. A serious discussion followed: “Strawberries first?” ” No, bananas.” Fortunately they started with milk. (I had decided to let them create their own measurements). There was at least 20 minutes of tasting, adding more strawberries, then more bananas, then ice cubes and tasting again–and repeating the process two or three times until the glasses were filled. I was not worried–there was no way to fail.
Partha carefully balanced the serving tray of smoothies and napkins. Kiera organized the “orders” (still all the same) and handed each guest their drink.
Exhausted, Partha and Kiera returned to the kitchen, poured their own smoothies, then topped each glass with whipped cream–complimenting each other on a job successfully completed.
Oh well . . . you can only carry the health thing so far.
